It started, as most good stories do, with a goat. Then another goat, and then another, until India and Steve Loevner had a herd of over 140 Alpine and Nubian dairy goats roaming the rolling hills of their 130-acre farm north of Pittsburgh. India took cheesemaking classes at Penn State and the University of Vermont, started making small batches in their kitchen, and before long Goat Rodeo was collecting awards that put Western Pennsylvania on the national cheese map. Their Bamboozle finished 2nd Best in Show at the 2022 American Cheese Society, just behind the legendary Jasper Hill Farm. Their Hootenanny took 1st Place at the 2023 U.S. Championship Cheese Contest. Their More Cowbell won Best of Show at the 2023 Pennsylvania Farm Show. And yet India's description of the operation remains the same: "We are really just this tiny little farm." That humility is exactly what makes Goat Rodeo special.
