Job Information

Seasonal Warehouse Associate:

About Lancaster Gift Box

At Lancaster Gift Box, we work as a collaborative team while doing any task: making gift boxes, prepping for an order, and even taking out the trash. Internally, we call this role the Gift Box Packer. Every box that goes out the door was packed by hand, by a real team, and that's where you come in.

The holidays are our busiest and most exciting stretch of the year, and we're looking for a crew of seasonal packers to help us get it done right. It's hands-on work, it moves fast, and you'll be part of a tight-knit team getting thousands of gifts out the door and into people's hands right when it matters most.

Schedule & Hours

This role runs November 2nd through December 15th, 2026, working 3-5 days a week, 9am to 5pm, with a paid 30-minute lunch break.

We're also offering a few opportunities in early September 2026 to try out the role and see if it's a good fit before the season officially kicks off.

Role Responsibilities

Order Fulfillment

During our peak season, we work in a team of 4-8 people packing around 300-400 gift boxes a day for our large-scale corporate projects and retail orders. The work happens across three stations: gift box filling, bow tying, and shipping. You'll rotate through these stations as part of a team, working together to get every order picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time.

Tasks:

  • Filling gift boxes with the correct products for each order
  • Tying bows and finishing boxes to our quality standard
  • Preparing and labeling boxes for shipment
  • Pulling product from project shelves
  • Inspecting merchandise for damage and quality before packing
  • Working as part of a rotating team across all three stations
  • Preparing for upcoming projects by making shipping boxes, cutting ribbon, and other tasks
  • End of day cleanup: sweeping, trash collection, etc.

Qualifications

  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with repetitive tasks that need consistent quality
  • Reliable and able to commit to the full November 2nd through December 15th season
  • Able to read basic instructions and communicate with the team in English
  • No experience necessary. We'll train you on the job

A Few Things to Know

We like to have fun while we work. Expect music playing and plenty of chatting with your teammates during shifts. Because group packing is a team effort, headphones are not permitted during group packing times.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $15-18/hour, based on experience
  • End of season bonus
  • Two gift boxes to send to family or friends
  • A fun, social, high-energy team environment during our busiest and most exciting time of year

Fulfillment & Operations Coordinator:

About Lancaster Gift Box

At Lancaster Gift Box, we work as a collaborative team while doing any task: making gift boxes, planning for the year, working on client projects, maintaining vendor relationships, and even taking out the trash. (Internally, we call this role the Operations Facilitator.) This business is always evolving, and so the work too is always shifting and full of learning.

We're at a stage in our business journey where the next few years are full of growth and opportunity, and we're looking for someone to join us on our path of discovery. The work may shift and morph, but our mission will always be the same: to enrich human connection through generosity.

Schedule & Hours

This seat directly reports to and collaborates alongside our owner and co-founder, Diana Smedley.

Since our business is highly seasonal, from September through December we require a more full-time commitment during those months (30-40 hours a week), with some possible weekend or later weekday hours. The rest of the year, we can guarantee at least 3 days of work a week (24 hours). Slower-season work shifts toward back-end systems, planning for the holiday season, retail store shifts, along with day-to-day order fulfillment, inventory management, and customer relations.

We typically maintain a weekday schedule of 10am to 6pm with a paid 30 minute lunch, but are flexible with start and end times to accommodate your life's scheduling needs.

Role Responsibilities

Corporate Project Coordination

We specialize in bespoke, large-scale gifting for our corporate clients. We fulfill and ship anywhere from 50 to 500 gifts per project, coordinating the ordering of all packaging and local treats, any custom elements like cards or branded gift boxes, and the packing and shipping of every box. In Q4 2026, we will coordinate the shipment of 4,000+ gifts across 50+ corporate projects. We track everything using a combination of specialized software, Airtable, and G Suite, alongside physical checkpoints.

Tasks:

  • Finalizing Concierge (large-scale) project details with clients
  • Ordering all inventory needed for projects
  • Receiving and tracking inventory for projects
  • Tracking all materials provided by clients (mugs, cards, etc.)
  • Printing shipping labels for each project
  • Managing the fulfillment of each project, jumping on the fulfillment line when needed

Inventory Management

We source products from 100+ PA-based businesses, most of them directly from our makers. We use a combination of Airtable and Google spreadsheets to manage vendor orders and upcoming client projects, and we manage physical inventory across two locations via Shopify: our Fulfillment HQ and our Retail Shop.

Tasks:

  • Documenting deliveries and pickups to replenish inventory
  • Designing and implementing an inventory tracking system for optimized procedures
  • Ordering products and packaging accurately, avoiding excessive surplus, based on projections
  • Keeping Shopify inventory up to date

Order Fulfillment

The gift recipient's experience is top of mind at Lancaster Gift Box. Our fulfillment goal is to ensure customer orders are packed quickly, accurately, and with great attention to detail. We ship anywhere from 300 to 500 orders in a given month.

Tasks:

  • Picking merchandise required to fulfill orders
  • Inspecting picked merchandise for damage and quality
  • Safely packing gift boxes for shipment
  • Transporting shipments to the post office distribution center

Qualifications

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, small-team environment where priorities can shift day to day
  • Strong attention to detail, especially around order accuracy and product quality
  • Comfortable learning and using tools like Airtable, Google Sheets, and Shopify (training provided; prior experience a plus)
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (for post office runs and vendor pickups)
  • Able to lift 40 lbs
  • Prior experience in fulfillment, logistics, retail, or customer service is helpful but not required, though we're happy to train the right person
  • Availability to work a more full-time schedule September through December

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting at $20-25/hour, based on experience
  • End of year bonus
  • Flexible daily start/end times
  • Staff discount on Lancaster Gift Box products
  • A close-knit team and a front-row seat to a growing local business rooted in community
  • Generosity:

Leading with empathy & abundance, and giving freely of our time, attention, and care so others feel genuinely supported.

  • Curiosity:

Approaching every challenge with an open and flexible mindset–asking thoughtful questions, resisting assumptions, embracing change, and problem solving creatively so we can innovate & serve people better.

  • Collaboration:

Leading with the question “How can I help?", listening actively, and working together as trusted teammates–sharing ideas generously & building something collectively that none of us could accomplish on our own.

  • Hospitality:

Meeting people where they are and welcoming them with care, warmth, and respect–making them feel comfortable and valued.

  • Inside the Gift Box

    • Why do we exist? To enrich human connection through generosity.
    • Who do we serve? People & Organizations who believe that relationships matter, and want a simple way to send gifts that are rooted in place.

At Lancaster Gift Box, we donate 1% of our annual sales to help feed our neighbors. We proudly walk alongside Hunger-Free Lancaster County and its network of community partners working to address food insecurity across Central Pennsylvania.

In 2026, we're honored to support Power Packs Project, whose mission is to empower families with the education and ingredients they need to create nutritious weekend meals so children return to school fed, nourished, and ready to learn.
